The general enthusiasm, which is expressed in the various reviews on this product, is incomprehensible for me. Since I have also installed a Noctua NH-U9B SE2 a few months ago, I can very well compare.
First the positive. The cooling capacity of the chunk is blameless and exceeds slightly the cooling performance of Noctua's called, of which there are, however, still the more comparable larger variant with 12cm fan. The build quality is very good. In two points of chunks subject but clearly the Noctua:
Assembly:
While the fastening system of Noctua's really ingeniously simple, the assembly of the Brocken was a real hassle. This starts with the mounting screws. When Noctua these sit on a cross and be inserted from the rear in a single operation by the motherboard, the Brocken is the individual plugs must first be covered with double-sided tape before they are fixed from behind the motherboard. Since the motherboard had 8 pre-drilled holes for two different bases, we had to repeatedly face the front to get the right hole. When mounting the bracket on the other side a plug is then promptly dropped again. Even with the additional steps the difficulties cracks not from ...
Audible noise:
The fan of the Brocken hums neatly, even at lower speeds. A test I have unfortunately found only after the purchase on the Internet, confirmed my subjective impression. Why not at least EKL alternative offers here the house Wingboost (I care surcharge) is beyond me. Anyway, we have ordered a quiet fan, so the price advantage of the lump was still largely there also.
Conclusion: not a total bad buy, but there are more recommendable total packages (eg the Noctua.).
