The workmanship is very good, even if tiny adhesive residues are at one point or another to see. At the top of the lamp sits balanced because the batteries are housed separately at the back. The headband is comfortable and sits comfortably wide.
At runtime, I can not say anything, because to be the first set of batteries (3 * AAA) in the lamp. However, I find the idea very well to indicate the charging status with a status LED, which lights up briefly after turning off.
The lamp can be operated in a light, a dimmed and a flashing mode. However, on the trail, I use only the bright mode, as the dim mode is probably meant more as a position light. The light cone is pleasantly wide and homogeneous illumination of the road. I'm so far gone only on known trails and would not recommend to use the lamp in situations where unknown terrain or orientation are needed. On familiar ground, the lamp is very well suited to search for roots and other obstacles.
Unfortunately I have no comparison to its predecessor, but it can as it is recommend the lamp.
