After I had looked around for BD players from other manufacturers, but could find no comparable BD player I chose Sony yet to take a chance and to test the BDP-S5200. Fortunately!
The comparison:
- Drive relatively quiet, not distracting drive extremely loud and annoying. Drowned out even laptop fan
- Menus liquid without disturbing bucking menus partly choppy, repeatedly trailer
- Key operation well, pressure comes from above player is pushed away when you operate the keys as pressure from the front
- Quality / processing makes a solid impression Much rickety plastic, looks cheaper overall
- Construction of both players kept pretty small, the 5500 is still somewhat narrower
- Netflix runs smoothly and cleanly on both players
- Both players support Dolby Atmos
CONCLUSION:
When BDP-S5500 can not really speak of a successor to the BDP-S5200. Both players could Qualitatively not be more different. At 5200 I could not see anything negative whereas I could not find anything positive in 5500 until now ^^
