The filled with fun, Alk and extreme sports holiday in the tropics ends for Altet ego Jason Brody, his brothers and friends when they led by brutal pirates from insane Vaas Montenegro - are kidnapped. Occurs after a successful escape is Jason protection at the local islanders who promise him unconditional support, if he frees their island from the clutches of pirates. And he gets to do it not only with Vaas followers, but also with human traffickers, drug mixers, mercenaries and other homicidal types that arise to him in search of his people in the way
What presented the Yerli brothers with their very first FC was anno 2004 was not only a technical masterpiece, but also playful groundbreaking. Okay, the story was saudumm, the later emerging mutants would be better painted, and on the island of well-designed per se, it was similar to vividly as in a cemetery. But with the huge, open world, a devilishly clever enemy AI that one gave nothing and all sorts of means of the match-motivation always was on an unprecedented level. CryTek debut proved that first-person shooter can be demanding and nonliniear if you just know how to do it.
The FC-brand went through (probably for NEM good deal) to Ubisoft it. While the Yerlis concentrated on their next milestone Crysis 1 (= C1), the French factory sparkled at FC sequel. Instead deadly island paradise in FC2 hot African savannah was now announced. Even more virtual square kilometers, optional side missions and to put the possibility of large landscape areas on fire first. Unfortunately was less convincing as the story-based, the AI was full of errors, the world seemed even emptier with this gained size, and respawnende enemy masses were among the most crucial points of criticism. Much potential lay in the brand, but it was not sufficiently exploited.
This failure brings with Ubisoft FC3 now after, the plot alone makes the narrative of weak predecessor effortlessly behind. What opaque like crazy / eccentric characters encountered during this adventure, is an experience in itself. Jason Brody's rescue mission is increasingly bizarre during the playing time, with increasing use of certain intoxicants and surreal, and at some point the player finds himself in a final situation again, where only chaos, madness and nightmares the gaming world (and themselves) to govern. The madness has here many names and faces, the disturbed-aggressive Vaas is just one among these. Do you know the definiton of madness? more than a small clue to the mental and psychological abysses, in which Jason gradually plunges to unstoppable.
An extremely stressed held and therefore not really realistic, yet highly atmospheric as innovative scenario that will deliberately out of the ordinary and partly reminiscent of Alex Garland's The Beach. Definitely one of the better games in the FPS genre stories.
Again, she is advised large, the island on which either kilometer after kilometer tears off to the chopping smoke or equal immediately are rubber. For mobility is ensured thanks to cars, boats and gliders - can be found practically at (almost) every corner - and who is running inherently lazy or do not like jam behind the wheel to which was also thought: Per quick trip you switch fix one of the many scattered base sites, provided that the previous owners have submitted more or less voluntarily the house keys. ;)
To various employment measures, efforts were made here clearly, opportunities completely free muzzle the season are (away from the main missions) to beat dead yet sufficiently. That stuck diverse elements of Ubisoft's own-brand AC and SC in FC3, would be difficult to escape the trained eye player. The already mentioned conquer enemy bases, looting chests, climbing radio towers to detect the map, diverse mini-games (target shooting, poker, race and other stuff) and well-hidden relics collect, that is quite the handwriting of Assassin series , Upgrading and improving the usable weapons arsenal, the silent abmurksen from behind and which Fading view circle at attention become adversaries - no doubt from recent Sam Fisher chapters extracted features.
For this purpose a three-part talent tree comes all the way to roleplaying way that unlocks many useful skills with growing experience points. Trained in stealth tactics players benefit from it most. Finally, there's the crafting, where you have to make use of nature in order to upgrade its equipment (weapons belt, purse, bags, etc.). This includes (unfortunately) also to draw one or another carrier fur fur or leather over his ears. Has among animal lovers (!) Made by gamers for heated discussions, this feature. With all due respect, that's ridiculous. These are creatures of polygons !!! People Children, if you otherwise has no worries * rolleyes *
Because often be a just the well-toothed predators no choice, because you have to draw out of pure self-defense weapon. Ubisoft has managed to breathe a life of their own wildlife. Whether bears, tigers, wild dogs or lizards, all category falls into the "carnivores" roams the island and is a moment busy with hunting, a little later, it may even attack a complete surprise, while squats still in the bushes and with binoculars fine area probed. The risk in animal form should never be underestimated, otherwise you end up even as Chappi.
The other way around, this can also be very useful. Not infrequently I have experienced it as a stray bear or has what-so-ever a pirate base without my help "cleansed" or at least taken care of enough distraction to give me a distinct advantage. This liveliness and unpredictability is one of the great strengths of FC3.
Either way, plenty to do there, the nice thing and in FC3 but anyone can, no one needs. Not predict whom the sidelines, they can simply be left. Did my a well done, because apart from the bases, radio towers and crafting something I have any other optional activities edited to almost I did not come here. My Steam counter for nearly 50 hours (!) Speaks for itself. And - just as a reminder - with a first-person shooter!
There is not much that I could criticize arg on FC3. At best:
- That it is too easy to tend, even in the hardest difficulty. The AI reacts usually quite reasonable and makes for beautiful dynamic battles, but could they act a trace of stubborn and tactically clever. In the first FC or C1 she was foxy lot.
- That most side missions are among the "quick-Thither slapped" type settings. "Eliminate person X", "Kill this and that animal", "Collect as much and certain items" ... As you prefer to stay in the main quest and the piece-by-piece-liberation of the island.
In an FC it behaves roughly like "Crysis": The name presupposes technical reference quality, otherwise push disappointed graphic whores and series fans immediately vociferous frustration. It should be said here that not only looks FC3 verteufekt well in DX11 mode, it also eats hardware like a rabbit dandelion. The enormous foresight, day and weather changes, dense jungle vegetation and beautifully designed NPCs along with wildlife can delight also 1 1/2 years since the release. Especially chic effects sets Ubisoft always fit in scene when it also supports the particular game situation, but avoids automated scripts chains permanent use. Permanent storm explosion a la Batman has FC3 anyway not necessary, direct action fetzt even so, making just then the most fun when they are not running passively vonstatten. Destructible environments there are not too bad, but you can at least flaring limits.
Now the sound. Ubisoft, the only developer who runs a sound studio to create your own sound effects world, is here again its high quality claims more than fair. A feverish and very individual score, a soundscape of aggression and imposing a localization as they could not be better. Again there is no expense spared to promote some of the most popular voice actors of our country. The German voices of Leonardo Di Caprio, Matt Damon, Jamie Foxx, Tommy Lee Jones, Gary Oldman / Kevin Bacon, Sean Bean and Others FC3 to (acoustically) special gaming experience.
Despite the enthusiasm for the sound, a reprimand collect the French developer at the end but still: Why in God's name to Games speech, sounds and music can not regulate separately ??? Frankly I do not know what Ubisoft has ridden deprive us such standard features. Speech intelligibility is fortunately still given in stereo mode, with the surround setup, however I would guarantee for nix.
Conclusion:
Almost had FC3 the impossible done, namely to push my favorite genre "Crysis" from the throne. This succeeds because of weaker AI and other little things not, but it's enough to share with Crytek's noble shooter the top spot. It is currently the best shooters of recent times, which offers plenty of "leg", many tasks, a very beautiful island world and an incredible amount of playing time. FC4, you may come!
