The object in itself is nothing but a Bluetooth tag that acts as a long-range NFC Tags.
The G-Tag has no buttons, no apparent connections. To use it, you first install an application on your smartphone (Android 4.4 or higher). Are easily set up and pairing G-Tag with the phone is actually a nod.
The disappointment comes on the first try. The application allows only three things:
- Make the phone ring when the G-Tag fate of its detection field;
- Make the phone ring when the G-Tag enters its detection field;
- Indicate on the screen if you are "near" or "far" G-Tag (with GPS location of the place where contact with the phone was broken).
The C-Tag is NOT a GPS tag: it is the G-Tag application on your smartphone that records your position through GPS in your smartphone (sorry for redundancy, but this seems important to me).
If it can be handy to have a "beep" when the G-Tag out of the field, the fact that this signal intervenes only when the tag is more than 10 meters limits the utility. You left your bag on a seat in the subway: you will be notified when the train will .. game!
I did not understand the value of having a "beep" when the G-Tag enters the sensing field. Imagine you are looking for your keys. In the living room? nothing. In the bedroom? nothing. (Etc.) Suddenly your smartphone emits a "beep" Good news: your keywords are within 10 to 15 meters!
.. When we come to that for which the object is designed, and why it does NOT work: the only thing you can say your phone is if you are "out of range", "far" "near" or "very close" G-Tag. Already, it is not super precise. But in addition the response time is very long!
I made the following test: I put the tag in a drawer in my kitchen, and I walked away. In apartment, with walls and doors, my phone beeps to 8 meters (approximately).
Then I went to the "research" of Tag: throughout my modest apartment: Tag was still out of reach. So I went back to the kitchen: always out of reach .. weary, I opened the drawer. The phone has more than 30 seconds CHRONO telling me that the Tag was very close! I dread to think what could have been if I had my test confided to a friend Tag with the mission to hide: I think I would try it again!
So what is the G-Tag: playing "that heated / cooled it" with an accuracy of 10 meters!
If only it were possible to ring the Tag it would be useful! Unfortunately this is not expected.
To make matters worse, the Tag requires that the Bluetooth and GPS positioning to be permanently activated on your smartphone: especially the latter function consumes a lot of battery! I'm not even talking about the fact that Mr. Gigaset can record all your movements through the application and activation of GPS positioning: mindiffère me it .. but it might displease you.
In conclusion: If you can not find the [Add to Cart] on the page, it's normal: someone hang of a G-Tag.
