Apart from the Samsung SSD requires one
1 Philips screwdriver 00
1 Torx T06
1 hard drive enclosure (eg RaidSonic Icy Box IB-223StU for 2.5 "HDDs)
and now STEP BY STEP
The latest version of the "Carbon Copy Cloner" (CCC) 1. you upload yourself - here is freeware.
2. the Samsung SSD ends up in the hard drive enclosure and is connected via USB 2.0 to the MacBook (no tools required).
3. Now we open the Disk Utility (we found in "Applications" -> "Utilities") and choose the Samsung SSD.
4. We enable the "Delete" button, choose the format "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" and enter a name under eg "Samsung SSD".
5. We click the "Delete" button at the bottom right - thus our SSD is now formatted in the desired way.
6. Now we launch the program "Carbon Copy Cloner", select the source of our old "Macintosh HD", a goal the new "Samsung SSD" and click the "Clone" button.
7. Now the time for a little break has come (for me the program for the 250 GB 90 minutes had used)
8. if the cloning is complete: Switch Macbook and hold the next start the "Alt" key; during the boot-process now appear the symbols of the Macintosh HD and the Samsung SSD. We choose the latter and get the opportunity to run a trial to continue the boot process of our new Samsung SSD. If so far everything is fine: Macbook off.
9. Open the back - short contact with the metal for the purpose of ground - and the hard drive bracket to solve (the black plastic rail on the long side) using Phillips Dreher.
10. Lift hard drive, disconnect the SATA connector carefully and unscrew the 4 lateral screws using a Torx screwdriver.
Refer to 11 the Samsung SSD out of the hard drive enclosure and provided with the Torx screws from STEP 10.
12. Connect the SATA connector to the Samsung SSD, selbige fit into the holes provided for them and sit on the hard drive bracket (the black plastic rail) and tighten. Close lid and - voila! READY
Start Macbook and enjoy! (And the old Macintosh HD ends up as data storage in external hard drive enclosure)
In addition, I have my old Macbook granted a larger memory (4 GB of RAM). The actual gain in speed but really comes about only through the incorporation of these SSD! Programs such as Pages or Keynote, you can quickly open and the image processing in Lightroom is really liquid again now.
For me the biggest gain: the annoying constant noise my old hard drive no longer bear to have! Now I'm sitting in front of a fast and (almost) silent Macbook - the fan is really hard to hear. All in all: this purchase was worth it!
22/12/2012 Update:
Thank you for your valuable comments! Important note: a uniquely performed "PRAM Reset" (. Cmd, old, P u R Upon startup pressed) can accelerate the future boot operations significantly. Incidentally, I am still - with daily use - very satisfied with this product.
