So much for the external design. As for 3D performance, I can not detect any differences. Philips writes that the PTA517 has higher contrast ratio than PTA507. This I could not understand. PTA507 makes the picture even darker than PTA517. Chill the flicker is not so intense, but only felt. Maybe it's something that I wanted to see, because the PTA517 to be generally better yes.
The glasses I keep now, but I am not so enthusiastic about the shutter technique. One was wanted of Rörenbildschirmen away, because they were among others so hard on the eyes. Then you got LCD / TFT. Now the 3D effect comes at the expense of the recourse of Flimmers. Too bad that there is no alternative. The spectacle itself can now but not really what it (the same I felt at a Samsung shutter glasses in the electronics market).

Update 12/09/2012:
After some time use, I discovered that the flicker is a matter of habit. The flicker even I am now in good darkened room no longer true. What remains, however, there is a slight headache if you overdo it with 3D glasses. Watching a movie, so about 2 hours to look, it still goes, but no more, otherwise you will bestrafft with headache. I got it confirmed from my circle several times.
