I am daily on several construction sites in Munich and traveling also use intensively a speakerphone. Until recently, I had a 3-year-old Becker Z112 that has brought me so far reliably at precisely each target (doorstep). There were just some map errors exist (roads changed, new roundabouts and signposts ...) and the Freisprecheinrichung was not great (though I could hear the other party out loud and clear, but he just quietly and noisy me).
In short inquired at the store and a TomTom Go Live 1005 fetched. Important for me current cards, a good speakerphone, traffic updates and possible voice commands. Little I am attached to 3D views, Weil under motoring eh nix brings and no I am attached to Media Player or similar.
Go Live 1005 unpacked, top quality of the housing, super easy operation, coupling of the 2 phones (Samsung B2100 and Nokia N900) without problems immediately and also voice prompts loud and very clear.
So get get to your computer and map updates. Now the first disillusionment! TomTom HOME does not work with these devices and MyTomTom is not yet mature and may not offer map updates. Well what the hell! Bin rumgefahren up now old 3 annual passes and the device is now new (newer maps); Services are also not all available, even though the device is on the market for over a 3/4 year ... but what the heck!
The next morning, hop in your car so that - there are now 5 goals (whose route I already knew luckily) on.
First destination entered as a test and set off (the TomTom voice instructions you have to indeed get used because the slightly different than the competition). Everything worked until shortly before the finish. The Navi led me about 60m further than the house number and then told me that I would have reached the goal. I was just a little surprised to drive past the actual house number and subsequent greenfield reach number 17 instead of 15 but no matter, may indeed be a card error.
The next goal of Dachau on the A99 and A8 to Sulzemoos. The Navi held me to stay on the left until after the Allacher Tunnel and then said something in the short term, now take the right lanes on the A8. Well -> had indeed already automatically classified and drove me so only the allowed 80km / h. To Exit Sulzemoos then everything went smoothly and relaxed. At the exit the Navi however briefly disoriented (for about 5 seconds) and put me next to the highway in the green strip (only on the screen, of course). Until the desired address then everything went perfectly super to your doorstep =>, as it should be
3. Target again Sulzemoos in Munich, this time to Laim in a small street at the Fürstenrieder / Gotthardstr. So set and off. On the highway I was driving in the middle and the Navi reiterated the command even if no branches were there "please turn left ..." Yes, the Dutch do not know precisely the German Rechtsfahrgebot (blemishes). This explains much good stuff ... but now it gets exciting! At the interchange München-West came as also expected for my taste somewhat in the short term, the announcement "exit before you use the right tracks!" So quickly changed two tracks and into the exit ... and now .... nothing ... shall I turn towards Lochhausen or on the A99 ???? So quickly peppered on display, the graphics pointed to the A99 ... so remained left, filed on the A99 and then there came finally back after a few seconds the voice message "Please keep to the left ..." Great - so strange I could not want to be here. From here then went back everything as usual until the exit Laim. Here I received a phone call, and I must say, in excellent quality and my interlocutor I also understand very well. Now everything went back as usual to the destination address. But what is it? The Navi wanted me again guided around it and showed a continuous loop around the address around to, so back to the Fürstenrieder, again on the Gotthard .... I prefer to go to the amusement park in the circle, I opted for parking and further instructions to ignore. As I drove past the address, gave me the way the Navi no hint that I have already reached my goal, and read me cold and continue without comment.
OK to date again entered next destination. I will spare the reader everything else, Weil's easily worked up to the destination address and then but once again 50m Readme continue until it meant that I have reached the goal. The 2. that day. Something I had with my Becker never once !!!! (You have to look sporty address even within + -50m see). Also gives you the Navi no hint on whether the requested address is to look to the left or right. In some places, poor signage is a real problem.
So the device is practically unusable for me and I would not have known about me on the highway I would probably become by Navi in several cases to traffic hazards. For 350 I would have expected more in the discipline navigation (It eventually is supposed to be a navigation device in the first place and relieve the driver and not in addition employ). I brought the TomTom device immediately to the dealer and exchanged it for a Navigon 70 Premium to.
Undoubtedly is sometime (in a few weeks or months) from the Go Live 1005 a great navigation device. Until it is fully developed, but it is good as most expensive high-tech toys for enthusiasts in their leisure time. Positive was, of course, the super-fast route calculation, high-contrast display sharp, quick GPS positioning, simple and clear menu structure, functioning HD Traffic (already showed stagnation on the Old Town Square), perfect operation and hands-free quality. Negative lot to me in addition to the above points only the not particularly blackout screen in the tunnel or in the night (but can be changed with 2 finger clicks on the display).
Now briefly for Navigon ... Weil also here from me what's to complain about.
The device makes compared to GoLive rather a windy impression (plastic only). The car charger connector on the device is angled and fitted with a 1.5 cm long lever, so that the charging socket can be broken out even faster. The plug is not tight but rather loose, so that to pay attention to a balanced cable management. The voice reproduction is a bit too quiet, so I have to turn off the car radio and to focus on the voice at full volume on the device and 130km / h on the highway. Last but not least, the speakerphone is unusable, because I neither my interlocutors understand well, yet he understands me (too quiet and noisy no matter what phone).
BUT !!! The navigation function as expected, extremely reliable. I was only once (just the first address as the GoLive) guided past a house number. Meanwhile, I am approached dozens of other addresses and misdirected no single again.
CONCLUSION: Perhaps TomTom and Navigon should times get together. Navigon provides the navigation and update software and TomTom the handsfree function and hardware. Both bring a service to the menus and one obtains a perfect in all respects and funtionstüchtiges device, which provides all other competitors in the shade.
