Of these, "Tracker" God praise very far away. For every album seems to fiddle more and more in his quiet little room to experiment Mark Knopfler, but quiet artistically profound and challenging songs far away from all Radio - to write charts. As you can hear as well doubt the recordings beyond mercilessly "analog" ... Say: Warm, sounded colorful, space, dynamic, perfectly ... A pleasure ...
So music has to be. They seem to come from the heart. And with soul and fervor 1: 1 spellbound at ''s warm sounding analog band. Detail by detail ... Let the man please his closed doors ... What better can not happen in the music world. Although of course he certainly would like to sell his CD ...
The more you have such 'a work like "tracker" easily perceive and reward. There are oodles of musical pearls on that you do not even discovered so right away. Compared to the previous albums as good now less and less Irish Folk Blues. There swings partially more. Spiced up with "Hillbilly" and "Marble Town Sound". I opted for the "Limited Deluxe Edition" to benefit from even more songs.
The opener "Laughs and jokes and drinks and smokes", is the first place, a worthy, peppy jazzy, lively slightly tinged Irish Knopfler song. Melancholic, sentimental text ... At the end of a nice final decaying melodious lighter bass rhythms with jazzy breath as it was like often played in the late '60s or early' 70s rock bands (Jethro Tull or the middle part of the Uriah Heep song "The Park "). Beautiful long six and a half minutes ... Already my favorite ...
The following songs take us further into more delicate soundscapes. Produced by classical instruments like all self-established by Knopfler guitar, which is the way to hear clearly in numerous places, keyboards, violin, flute, bass and drums. Highlights are the singing accompanied by Ruth Moody, Nigel Hitchcock on sax and Phil Cunningham on accordion. No frills, no computer generated whispering, no gimmicks, no soulless trivial smooth polished banter ...
Based on the aforementioned absolute quality recording quality keeps me the whole album caught in a pleasant way. I'm tied up and do like a sure ... As always shine for the most part very quiet songs through stylistic diversity. Also worth even a look at the texts that are very personal again and often humorous wink. But since I mostly listen to the music, that's for me only times secondary.
After the opener followed by one of the absolute highlights of the album: "Basil" ... Very melancholic and finely arranged. Swings because not a little "Brothers In Arms" with? From because of dull and far away from the Dire Straits ... Again, the vocals accompanied by Ruth Moody goosebumps makes.
Who becomes the "Tracker"? Mark Knopfler in the footsteps of his own or the gentle listener?
Mighty Man, Lights of Taormina or Long Cool Girl (A lively gem) ... Again and again, this intimate, quiet melancholy approaches. Time with distinct crystal clear acoustic guitars, sometimes with slide guitar ... fine ... Very fine ...
Skydiver or Beryl are then z. B. those songs, for Mark Knopfler is going into the depths of the last 60 years of pop / beat / blues and rock music ... and thus ensures the occasional recognition factor. Here, for example, the Beatles; rather even the Kinks (Skydiver) ... Or he uses properly, as in "Beryl" in ancient Dire Straits ingredients.
To "Wherever I Go" you can actually say only one thing: Phenomenal ... more. Memories of "All The Road Running" are awake ... or to "Seattle" ... Really great ... As this final song have "trackers" more than seven songs long seasons of well over 5:30 minutes and even well over 6 minutes.
If that does not promise long-lasting listening pleasure ...
Who needs time away from the charts-Tralala, party noise or of the unspeakable stupid Superstar fuss a little more substance, is right here. Just drift, dive into the depths of music, yet listening with pointed ears ...
The bonus tracks that are on the Edition with it, are also recommended all.
Here one does not really music ... One who has even a clue of recording technology ... One of those who may unfortunately become extinct soon.
I do not dare to think about it ...
