8.9 inches is the ideal size for the MMN purpose is to fulfill a Netbook: small and portable and always at hand. So it can be super carry in your pocket like a book, incl. Battery is good a kilos. The Eee 1000 is already too large for me.
The keyboard has been regularly described as not suitable for 10-finger system, which I think is absolutely wrong. Experienced writers can certainly quickly reach an acceptable write performance. Generally mistyped but you look a little more often than on a full keyboard, I realize that I twice anschlage keys frequently. Apart from that you have but hingekriegt a good keyboard for dimensioning at ASUS. As I said a full-size keyboard is of course even more enjoyable, but write fast 10-finger is definitely a short time possible.
The battery life is very good: about 5.5 hours with me the cut thanks to 6-cell battery, which also form comparatively very fine attaches itself to the body. The additional equipment is more than adequate: 1.6GHz Intel Atom, 1GB of RAM, built-in UMTS (currently there yet virtually no other comparable models who can demonstrate that), 1.3 MP camera, microphone and speaker so placed that feedback very limited hold etc.
The 16GB SSD module is in principle sufficient, and not a purely mechanical memory is absolutely to suggest in the mobile space! It's very pleasant when you fold that Netbook, stowed and allows you to immediately start walking without worrying because of the hard disk. If there the 901 GO from Austria and Germany not the subject of speed would be ... and so we come to the already really only shortcoming of the model, and that should not be underestimated: Built with me about SSD reaches the values of a USB Sticks: 34 MB / s read and 8 MB / s write !! This slows the system from massive and detracts from the fun on an otherwise completely felicitous netbook. You can tell the lame writing speed with practically everything, firefox, boot up, hibernation, ... For me personally, but (soon) bearable, I ordered a fast 32GB SSD breits a third party, and will hopefully rebuild soon. This upgrade I recommend who wants to work more intensively with the GO 901 each, and the reconstruction of the SSD is comparatively simple for RAM upgrade. A faster SSD is Sichera also significantly greater speed than the RAM plus bring upgrade to 2GB. Made ichs course anyway, 2GB Kingston 20 are certainly not wrong. :)
The alleged Netlock the UMTS module has caused negative headlines, so again: the module has no Netlock, only the pre-installed software on Linux can only be operated with T-Mobile. MWConn under WinXP on it, for example, and the thing is working fine. The infamous PIN query when firmware update can be resolved more easily than expected, any 8-digit number puts things right!
Yet striking is the lack of an internal Bluetooth module, here Asus did not want to produce a panacea well. For me, at least not a problem, can be retrofitted with a cheap and easy the now tiny Bluetooth USB sticks. I recommend Belkin fits, optically (black with blue LED) ideal for black 901 GO.
My conclusion: I can express a purchase recommendation, albeit not absolute. The weak SSD spoils the fun and retooling should really consider. Despite this lack there of me 4 stars because the device is absolutely Ansonten tip.

UPDATE:
with new SSD comes with me to 85 MB / s read and 40MB / s write, the upgrade is absolutely worth the money and has the 901go as expected accelerated massively. Is more important than 2GB of RAM!
