While the finish is a little lower and the screen a little less good at viewing angles (TN technology requires) but there are also a lot of points where the tablet stands out, besides its price significantly lower than those of the competition.
These include bulk:
- Many additional settings in Android Settings (examples: possibility of restoring the OS without touching the files and reset inverse files without touching the OS and apps, in addition to the possibility of the total reset / presence Utilities calibation / ability to enable a "deep sleep" in energy management / re-launching the wizard from the first start / short full of little things missing on other tablets ...
- Note also direct access to mode_avion / wifi / 3G / rotation / brightness by clicking on the clock. The Acer tablet offers only mode_avion / wireless / brightness in comparison.
It's very nice to have its settings directly on hand without looking them in the settings menus ...
- The assembly is good for me; the tablet is rigid and does not creak despite that "it is only made of plastic (and glass for the screen) Pleasantly surprised, although I expected it to be lighter. I therefore think plastics used are of good quality. We can read some very negative tests by magazines to tablet release date. The concerns identified ("bubbles" on the screen due to a lack of rigidity when leaning behind the shell ) have obviously been corrected since the production lines.
- I bought the 3G for fifty euros that fits perfectly in a housing on the back. Good point when the wifi version / 3G competing tablets are generally 100 more expensive than the same wifi only version. Again you can find tests (numerical example) where we see that the key insertion is done by forcing and "away" assembly. On my copy that is not the case at all: the assembly is PERFECT and without forcing. The problem has obviously been corrected on the production lines. (What a shame for Archos for sending copies of which fell more "pre-series" testers)
Please note a great thing with this key Archos can remove it from the shelf and put it on his PC. On mine it has Windows installed a small connection utility and presto I had internet by 3G on my PC: great to do that! And another benefit that key is not simlockée so it will accept a 3G SIM of any operator (free package will soon offer "3G only" at competitive prices, I can not wait!)
-Archos Very often software updates (already 8 from the exit, few manufacturers can say that) and will benefit from the tablet version 4 of Android in March.
- There is still a lot of small nice thing (remote control via an app on another Android device connected to the same wifi network, etc.) that make me appreciate my tablet Archos almost more than my Acer tablet, yet excellent, critically acclaimed ... and paid twice as expensive!
If I have any advice you consider this tablet because its price / quality ratio is UNBEATABLE, and do not stop for some tests peus flattering dating a few months you can find on the net ("digital", see "slates" that's him squarely dependents) as they were done with the first copies from the factory with hardware faults and software are now fixed.
PS: I gave a lot of points that I like to be thorough, but there is in my opinion a few design errors as :-)
- For example the volume knob too "imposing" and placed on the right side where is placed by hand and therefore we inadvertently active (at least initially)
nb: the Acer Iconia Tab 500 the volume button is placed (top) but it is so tiny and recessed it takes the nail to push it, just the opposite what ;-) but both are a bit pesky ...
- There is also a slight "hook" between the screen and the screen outline as such, when the Acer there are none: a little unpleasant to the touch but we made it
Hoping that my opinion was useful ...
