In summary:
- If you want a compact phone, which allows access to the Internet and incidentally offers virtually all the features of much more expensive smartphones, consider carefully this small ACER Liquid Z3!
- If you need a phone close to a tablet to make pretty pictures and watch videos comfortably, aim instead on a more high-end phone with a larger screen and also planning a larger budget.
What I like:
- Dual SIM: finished the phone from work + personal phone, the Z3 can manage two SIMs easily.
- The size, grip, finish quality: This phone feels good in the hand, coating the back plastic shell is nice, and especially it takes up little space (easy to slip into a pocket)
- The fluidity and responsiveness of the screen: no observed slowdowns, applications (at least those I have installed) run quickly and well, the screen responds well to requests
- The sound quality when I phone
- Autonomy: in moderate use, with some calls / SMS, a little internet Wifi mainly active 3G, Bluetooth enabled with the car at least one hour per day: 3-4 days, for a smartphone is not bad at all
- The Android 4.2 system, and all the features and applications that come with it (weather, consultation of emails, news feeds, GPS navigation, online banking, etc.). Small interesting details: ability to stop and restart the phone automatically at a set time, and set an alarm to sound even if you stop the phone.
- The bluetooth connectivity, which allows me to call handsfree in the car and listen to music from the phone to the speakers of the car. With a small flat, cf. below.
- The standard connectors. Jack for headphones and USB charger. Are provided with the phone: headphones, of course the battery, an electrical outlet, a USB cable to connect it to the power outlet or a standard USB port.
What can be improved:
- Have a LED to indicate receipt of an SMS or a notification. It has a red LED that lights up when charging the laptop and tried to install an app for the ride, but without success (I have no particular issue either ...).
- Quality of the camera / camera: Personal I use a 'real' camera to make pretty pictures and a camcorder to my videos, so that's enough
- Video: videos are fluid but the screen is small (you can not have everything!). Ditto, I prefer to watch videos on a TV or a computer, so no big deal to me.
- Bluetooth: the phone and the car radio sometimes have trouble connecting to each other. Usually it works, but I noticed that when I leave the car without having disconnected the bluetooth, and then I'll be back in the car, the connection sometimes difficult to settle again. I do not know if this is the phone or the radio is at stake ...
- No front webcam. If you like video chat conferencing, then you can not.
- No magnetic sensor (compass) to my knowledge
In short, a very good value in my opinion!
