Gaming performance:
The GTX 860M is about in the performance category of GTX 560Ti desktop graphics card. The Intel I5 runs on dual-core applications to a maximum of 2x 2.3GHz in single core applications is a core clocked at up to 2.6GHz. The processor is thus not the fastest of all, if you take this highly clocked 4-core processors as a comparison. However, most games use any 4-cores completely, so that this processor, with its two only moderately high-clocked cores, provides nevertheless high performance in most games. Gaming benchmarks show that the performance increase of 4 core processors core 2 processors, is minimal. Only convert videos, archive files etc. extract brings a measurable performance gain in 4-core processors. Thanks to SMT (Hyperthreading) the processor has 2 cores per virtual core. The processor has a 4 virtual cores, but has real only 2 physical cores. In certain applications, this can bring a performance improvement (See Wikipedia: "Simultaneous_Multithreading").
In 3D Mark 2011 standard settings, reaching the ZBOX EN760, a performance of 4420 points (Chart: 4800, Physics: 3552). A comparison desktops with a GTX 560Ti and an Intel I5, yielded similar performance - a little more identical in Physics area, graphic. StarCraft II eg running smoothly on the computer, even for larger battles.
The currently current games like Crysis 3 or Battlefield 4, the ZBOX EN760 can be processed smoothly. As a mid-class gaming computer the device is thus quite suitable.
I have in the box a Crucial M500 240GB mSATA, a 2.5 "1TB Western Digital Red hard disk and 16 GB GEIL Ram installed. These components were immediately recognized easily. Windows 7 will boot from the SSD very quickly, so the computer is after Press the power button, after about 9 seconds into Windows and ready for use. The BIOS of the Z-BOX seems to work very quickly without displaying an unnecessarily long screens, top!
Power consumption:
With about 14 watts of power consumption in idle mode, the Z-Box is very economical. Under full-load approximately 90 Watt power is converted, which comparatively is also economical to desktop computers.
Adding Components:
The installation of the components is relatively simple, as it works stands in the enclosed instructions.
The ZBOX can be opened by two knurled screws by hand. The RAM is located under the hard drive. To install the RAM, so the hard disk holder must first be removed, to a screw must be loosened. Subsequently, the RAM can be used. The hard drive is inserted into a frame and then inserted into the SATA slot and screwed again accordingly. The mSATA SSD is also inserted into a corresponding slot and screwed with a small screw. It should be ensured that the bolts on the mSATA drive is attached, "gekonntert" from below with a screw. This screw dissolves relatively easily. So it's better to hold the bolt with pliers and while tightening the fixing screw - otherwise you would loosen the screw at the bottom if necessary.
The power supply is external, like a notebook. WLAN reception works very well with me. Audio works fine and there is no interference. For laptops, I had often unwanted network hum / whistle through the AC adapter, which is here but not the case!
With the processing of the case, I am satisfied - it does the job. The connection options (1x DVI, 1x HDMI, 4x USB 3.0, card reader, Audio, Mic, 2x LAN) are sufficient. If you need more connections, can bring corresponding expansion units (USB hub, USB CD drive ...) If you want, you can see the BOX screws on the monitor as long as this provides an attachment and can be a kind of "All-In-One -PC "realize.
Otherwise, is still to say that it is worthwhile to pose the latest BIOS update that is available for download on the ZOTAC website. The aim is a graphics driver compatibility problem gefixed were his.
I am completely satisfied with the device and would recommend it to anyone looking for a small and / or economical machine that is able to still be gaming capable. For the living room as a gaming computer console (SteamBox) the ZBOX EN760 is also ideal.
