Possibly slightly slow going to start with, but I could not put it down (literally - read the whole thing in two nights!). Made me laugh out loud and cry. Many Of These reviews really make me wonder what some readers are expecting from Bridget around 15 years on as a widow with two children. If anything about the plot is unbelievable, it's that she Manages to Actually Get out at all! But come on, it's a rom com (but Actually so much more!) - If you can not put aside your disbelief for five minutes, then why pick up the book in the first place ?! Yes, there is quite a bit of "toilet humor", yes Bridget can be somewhat immature - but she always was - people do not change Just Because They get older! If you're looking for a book about a 30-something chick Cosmo-reading Whose only problem is finding a man and keeping her weight, look elsewhere, if you're looking for a very funny, but so touching, look at what modern Motherhood (and widowhood) for a 50-something in the city can turn out to be like, as well as her keeping her weight and finding a man, then this is your book!
