Stiglitz attacks a fashionable theme: rising inequality since the 1980s and the explosion of the "super rich". Now these super-rich benefit more from pensions as real work "productive." The structure of the book is quite simple: finding, its causes, its economic consequences, its extra-economic consequences (especially on politics and democracy), and opportunities to "cure" the problem ... The style is very American, late summaries of each chapter, a lot of repetition, developed ideas on dozens of pages when it would be possible to synthesize all this. Similarly, the author focuses primarily on the United States (especially when considering the sub public investment, etc ...). Obviously the approach remains "focused" and documented it ... rest of Stiglitz. Note that the book is not too badly translated (we are far from treatment to which Krugman was right ... thankfully!). A rewarding reading ... but that needs to know keep a critical mind.
