Why this part:
I have again used a knife, which I do not have to mourn when it breaks down times. So not expensive.
Since I am a "allround tool" needed on my trips, with which I can poke around in the ground sometimes, and that is fairly stable (eg whenever I must therefore begin a lever to rauszuhebeln stones etc., abzusäbeln roots etc.) and not want to lug around a crowbar, saw and other small items with me, I decided due to the low price of this knife. Even though I am not a diver.
Well, what expectations you have of a "outdoor" knives for that price? Less than be satisfied here ... I mean, the knife is actually valent than expected.
Weight and other data:
What first strikes: the knife is heavier than expected. Whole 145 grams brings the thing on the scale. The blade is surprisingly strong - stately 3 mm at the thickest point. Length 11.5 cm, ie just below the allowed "In Deutschland-darfst-Du-kein-längeres-Messer-mitführen-weil-Du-Böser-damit-die-Leute-erschrecken-könntest" 12 cm line and the width of the blade is on the stitching 2.5 cm. The circumference of the handle at the narrowest point approximately in the center with a thread is measured 8 cm (interesting for everyone who wants to like me use another vagina as the accompanying and partly because some information is missing in the description).
The knife comes in several color combinations. Yellow, Red and Olive I was able to end finish. In red, it does not mean "Fox", but "SCUBA". But is absolutely identical. As a "SCUBA" it is more expensive from indefinable reasons. Strange. I have finally decided to Olivvariante "Fox" from Normani.
Cut and handle:
The work touches the cutting edge can be forgotten for now. The paper test is succeed expressed a disaster. If I tear the sheet by hand, I get straighter. Regrinding is really needed. The cutting blade acts altogether somewhat rough and coarse. The saw back and the rice hooks are okay.
Overall, the quality of the blade acts but quite acceptable, although you have to deal with some minor flaws with respect to the fixing in the magazine. The booklet is made quite grippy, rubbery plastic and smells that way. Intensive. Very intensive. The smell has even drowned out my Ballistol. That's just been rubber ...
But is surprisingly well and securely in your hand. Also positive.
Processing and handling:
Is between the blade and the handle as a steel disc guard fitted, as can be seen also in the photo. This is slightly wobbly, at least with my knife in cold weather. The rubber grip then pulls something together and the disk is a little (!) Loosely. But at normal temperature it holds bombproof.
The handle is still a print head on a small grid lever. This links arms in the vagina, so that the blade can not easily slip out. When taking out simply press on the lever and the knife is released. Quite nice solved, but I will need neither the button nor the vagina. I'm getting further below.
Very good: As I measured with a magnet, put the blade almost to the end of the handle in the same. At first I did not know exactly what the visible also on the image small button on the handle end is supposed to be there. In fact, so that the blade is mounted in the magazine. I guess that in the steel, a hole is drilled (I think, "Erl" called the part of the knife, which is in the grip) and the "button" through the handle and the steel was driven by a detachment of the blade from the to prevent handle. The pen will not budge, even in extremely cold temperatures, so the blade is stopped.
Sheath / holster and mounting:
The somewhat edgy acting vagina itself is also not very easy made of sturdy plastic and at just 75 grams. As others have described, the knife sits in the vagina not fixed but slackens slightly back and forth. Falling out it can not. If the hook once engaged, it holds safely. I would now interfere less shake, but the problem is unnecessary for me anyway, because I'm going to use another vagina.
But who is bothered by the loose fit of the knife, for which there is a simple solution that I myself have tried and works quite well.
My tip: Just a piece of sponge down exhausted into the sheath. Then it fit! As a drainage hole is at the bottom of the vagina, the sponge may, it should be sometime dirty, easily pushed out back and be replaced.
The Scheidenöse is designed for these rubber bands, with which you can fix that thing on the arm or leg. But I will not do. As I said, I need the knife on forest and meadow, and not in the water. Consequently, the accompanying sheath is unusable for me, because I the thing does not buckle me to the arm or the leg. None of my (admittedly thick) belt fit through the narrow eye because I have almost only belt, have the width at both ends of metal parts, similar to a seat belt. So, away with the thing in the closet. I use my Tasmanian Tiger Universal vagina, which, although a bit longer than the blade, but that does not matter.
The rubber bands are quite ok, they only attract dust as the dog's fleas. Let's see if I can somehow use differently. Nice to have and for a diver certainly useful.
General:
So far so good. Not quite perfect for my purpose is that the transition from the blade to the handle and the pushbutton is not "tight" and the knife will be very difficult to clean there in the narrow slit. There will certainly sometime sometimes nest dirt. But this is of course due to the really low price.
In summary, I got the knife more than I had expected. Strong, quite well anchored blade, rough, really a tool, to which one does not have to be careful and not hurt at this price when it is over. The saw is absolutely useful and rice hook ... Well will already see what I'm going to need some. Overall, however, exactly what I wanted.
Basically and Conclusion:
Whether it ultimately corresponds to my rough demands on time, remains to be seen. But when divers so can scratch shells of stones, I will certainly sometimes can produce pry a stone under a root so.
Who has higher claims, will set barely a meter in this price range and who no longer want to spend will probably be quite happy with this knife.
A somewhat larger negative I have to mention, however, because such a thing even with a new diameter of the lower price range now may not happen: the handle are clearly still see the footprints of the vice in which the knife stuck in the production. That costs a "star". Here at the delivery quality, it must be then but my only slightly more expensive Mora's measure and because this Fox loses clearly on points. But still remain three (almost four) stars in "Not bad."
For this price: really strong blade, good piece of steel to work
