All who are similarly confused as I was it was therefore said I could not notice any problems with the new 'Golfball' version. The described problems seem to relate to the old design. My stick is not binding in any case, the docking ball does its job exactly as it should be, at least for the data port above. To the charge port on the front, I can not say anything, I have not yet used.
A note still for weight:
My old USB 2.0 Docking ball from LogiLink with whom I am extremely pleased weighs without cable 94g, that is, it is very firmly on the desk.
The new 3.0 Docking ball from Sharkoon weighs without cables just about 40g (the exact weight I have not noticed). It is therefore to my taste anyway far too easy to not rumzurutschen. He may be magnetic, but the wood panel of my desk, it is not, and I want to stick to it either. So I got myself a washer with 50mm outer diameter from the hardware store and stuck on the bottom. Now weigh the docking ball at least 78g and is fed up enough to be not determined by the own, thick cable on the cross. For unnecessary lightweight I prefer a ZIP code - LogiLink showed how to do it better.
