This is essential for such a device: one does not generally used for fun, and any interruption in measurements can be very damaging! This new device will display the "background noise" which is handy. The beeps are much more sound than the old model, and the display is much more readable (contrast the much improved display). The factory calibration is constant: the new device gives exactly the same as the previous measures. If the current consumption is the same, I can say that the set of batteries is a bunch of hours! I can only recommend this purchase, and I am delighted. Ps: the menus are English, but very simple to understand.
