I had a negative experience with this mouse and use again
the excellent MX518.
While the G5 is outwardly very well made, some better than the MX518, but some serious shortcomings were gearing over time.
On the one hand the mouse wheel is unfavorable designed.Die wheel button can not be so long press precisely how the MX518. Frequently they operated at the same time the wheel, resulting in annoying shifts the pointer in the software interfaces.
On the other hand turned out after some time a Harwaredefekt which led to uncontrolled pointer movement and scrolling operations without the mouse was used physically. I (even Windows XP, once Ubuntu Linux) tested the mouse on various PCs with the same error, I take it from a software error.
It may be that this error (possibly an error in the laser control?) Was just an exception in my case, but I would warn against.
Ultimately, I can advise from many years of experience only to much more reliable and better-designed MX518 - which also is still cheaper!
