Scary moment: that confirmed a review that describes an incompatibility problem. Also with me was at first shows the message "Incompatible" to see on the camera screen. I assumed that only batteries hold this authentication chip and it must be due to this. But the handle seems even to have a logic for it. I find this chip stuff anyway disgusting, but good. After several attempts, then the camera but was persuaded (an Nex 5 first generation) to work with the handle together. Probably the chip in the handle must first be supplied with sufficient power, then to report, everything is OK, I can not tell me that. At least now starts the camera always ready with the handle! (This phenomenon I know but even with batteries, which then functioned but after several incompatibility message.) Fiddly I found now not the attachment. A recess in the battery cover of the camera is vorgsehen so that the cable of the handle can be placed. The cable loop disappears into the handle. Then is the handle after he is firmly screwed on, just the camera to the ground. A pity of course, that now the SD card can be changed worse. Perhaps a Wifi version will create in the future remedy, so that the card can remain in the camera and it transmits the images via Wifi. Per USB of course would have to register before. Otherwise, the handle has the added value that the camera can be better retained. I have not tested how much now is longer uptime. It's probably a good idea to use two identical batteries (had me two new ones ordered) and the same charge, otherwise (I reach out my physics knowledge school back) the weaker battery is more loaded and no double maturity longer comes out (due to equalization currents between the batteries), but only that of the weakest battery. A small drawback I see in the caps on the ends of the handle that quite easily just stall and no similar ribbon have to snag the handle. Thus, one must watch out that the cover is not lost. The batteries would not cover also contact, but that would not be very stable. The cover flaps fix but the batteries a bit. Interssant is still the socket on the handle, to which one can probably connect a charging cable / device. Thus, one would also have a chance to charge two batteries simultaneously. But I have not tried it yet.
Conclusion: If the handle is allowed by the camera, he performs his duties. Added value are: better grip of the camera, improved uptime, possibly charging two batteries simultaneously. I only wish to revise for more practicality (cover with ribbon or hinges).
