This switch allows you to connect 3 devices on one HDMI input on your display. In my case, I have connected a DivX player + multimedia center (ie a "smart" hard drive) + a TV decoder via ADSL. When I light up one of the 3 devices (the other 2 being in standby mode), the switch automatically recognizes the active channel and sends the signal corresponding to the screen (when the screen automatically from sleep mode) . When you turn on multiple devices simultaneously, it recognizes the last device you turned on and automatically sends the corresponding signal on the screen. The switch therefore offers automatic recognition function of the active channels, but it is possible to manually select any device (lit) by pressing a dedicated button. When all devices are on standby, the switch also turns on standby and a small red light is lit on its surface.
Warning: 1 Problem
This switch is "self-powered" ie it uses the current supplied through the hdmi cables for the devices that are connected to it. Or some devices (such as Evolution decoder SFR-Neuf) do not seem to provide strong enough current to operate. The switch then appears inert and your screen remains imperturbably standby.
If you end up like me in this situation, you are not required to make the switch to Amazon to buy one with external power supply. You can still make it work. For this you will simultaneously turn on another device connected to the switch (for example a DVD player) which itself does not have this pb too low current. It is this that will bring the device 2d current required to operate the switch. Which is a bit annoying is the number of operating cycles to perform each time. Instead of turning on any device with a single click on your remote control, you will be obliged to do the following: (1) turn on 2 devices (the device that interests us but the current is too low a + else you do not want to use but which brings the current); (2) press the button switch that allows to switch from one device to another (Fortunately there is the manual control). (3) 2 switch off appliances after use.
I find it a bit tedious in the era where the facility offered by the remote controls gives us the feeling that a simple glance is enough to light any appliance.
Note: Another simple solution if you depend SFr: ask neufbox use the classic (the old gray box): here it works without pb!
