Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 G Headphone (Electronics)

Customer Review

Caveat:
I am not an engineer or similar. I would describe myself more as an opportunity listener who still expect good sound quality. The tested products were tested on a Galaxy S5 and at an Onkyo 626 receiver. In addition to playing the following music genres were tested: (Classic) rock, metal, hip-hop and a little electro and pop.
The design of the headphones I rate not because I think everyone has different preferences. Quality and delivery (packaging, etc.) but very well rated.
The following headphones were tested:
Devil Aureol
Marshall Monitor (over-ear)
Philips Fidelio L2BO / 00
Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro 80 Ohm
Sennheiser Momentum Ivory
Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 G Black

First impression, quality, delivery:
Especially negatively falls unpack actually only the devil. The open design is debatable, but compared to the other participants simply receives only plastic. The headset is very light and also sits not so bad, but not compared to other headphones. You really think that you have here NEN 10 headphones. Of premium and value I've got little felt, but that is not necessarily the first claim ;-)
Among the remaining participants:
Actually gabs almost everywhere a very similar delivery, 1-2 lead, with and without a headset and ne bag for transporting. The only exception: The Sennheiser 2.0 G, but more on that later.
The processing was also everywhere very good and you always had the impression to keep a high quality product in hands.

Sound / sound etc .:
Let's start with the Marshall Caves bad. All the positive reviews I can not understand. By far the worst sound, both on the mobile phone, as well as on the system. Have not tried something to change, without losing the warranty, but the bottom line was there nothing to be done. Too bad, because the design and processing were able to convince.
To hell Aureol: Sonically then but significantly better than the first impression suggestiert. However, I must say that the sound does not really convinced me here. Especially the bass lacks the pressure. In addition, the open design makes the headphones really suitable for (railway) travel.
The Beyerdynamic sitting in my view, quite close to the head and pushing something, when you carry it a long time. In addition, it is not designed for smart phones, etc.. He has no microphone and prevent the 80 Ohm that the headphones really can play loud music. To me it was always too quiet, although I usually do not hear about loud music. In addition, the cable can not be removed and replace with a shorter. So you always have 2-3 feet of cable in his pants without thinking even remotely to what nasty: D Back to the topic: the long cable is a bane on the phone, but a revelation of the plant. Why are there such as at the Mountain hoarse only cables that are not NEN meters long (felt)? For the mobile phone is the top, but the cable with 6.35mm jack fits in any phone in the world and is still one centimeter longer Should I permanently hang on the plant with the ear ?? Here it seems to me to have only Beyerdynamics really thought along.
I have to say the sound that it's all not quite as clear sounds on the receiver. The bass swallowed me as too many details. I personally like the vote of Sennheiser something better. Overall, the DT-770 Pro like but, sonically it is still well ahead of the devil / Marshall, only the Philips sound comparable to the phone, but also costs significantly more. In addition, the Beyerdynamic is to listen really nice on the receiver and suggests also the Philips clearly (in my view).
The Philips Fidelio L2BO / 00 is the smartphone really close and personal with the Senn hoarse. I would describe it as relatively neutral sound, with good bass. On the system you realize then but significant differences. The two Sennheiser models emit a clearer sound and the bass is again something punchier, in my view. It sounds a whole better than the devil and Marshall, but the Beyerdynamic comes the Philips not past the receiver.
Now for the two Sennheiser models:
The first generation I was already in the local media market trial heard here and he stabbed the Sennheiser Urbanite XL, the Bose QuietComfort 25 and all Beats Headphones (Studio Pro etc. from 100-500 beats) from. However, the ear cups are relatively small in the first generation. My ears do not enclose, despite over-ear version. But this does not bother me really, because I'm rather a chance listener. For me therefore the comfort is still pleasant. With big ears, it could quickly give deductions here but. However, the second generation has much larger ears, which then actually enclose my ears. On the size of the ears of Beyerdynamic or Devil, you will still not be enough but zoom. Still, I would at the longer the 2nd generation contribute prefer.
What first strikes negatively: In the second generation, the packaging / delivery makes a much worse figure: None 6.35mm adapter, nor a second cable, with that very connection. The included mobile packaging also pleases me less. Sure, the headphones can now be folded and since then has her ne compact envelope, but I liked the in the first generation but significantly better. In addition, the remote control cable is now out Platik WTF ?! The first generation had still built aluminum / metal and also the general position of the remote control is further moved slightly upward ear. Now you can no longer tell where one because it actually expresses That was in the first generation not so easy, but it is absolutely nu inconvenient. After all, the second generation of Android is designed. In the first generation, the loud-quiet keys do not function. But to pause the remote control can also be used on Android, as well (take, talk and hang up) to call.
Come is the sound:
Here, both models can still stand out clearly from the competition relatively, exception is the Beyerdynamic. Marshall and the devil do not see Stich and the Philips makes the receiver clearly inferior figure. Treble, mid and lows really come across very well, although I think that the sound is slightly distorted. This gives a rather warm sound. For sound fetishists who want to have an absolutely neutral sound, then more of an AKG 701 is the overall picture I find most appealing momentum. Especially the bass are really great, without swallowing too many details. By mid / late 20 but I have other claims, as with 50/60 years.
In the second generation, we have a slightly more pronounced bass. Not really much, but noticeable if one respects it. In Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits, it is me then places a little too much, in pop or hip-hop, it is rather the music good.

Final verdict:
The jack of all trades I have not found, but I've got a lot of good impressions won. Marshall and the devil could not convince me to my surprise. Too bad the sound was compared to the test area and the devil I was also very inferior quality and the open design disturbed. The Philips could get at receiver will also not convince. Stay 2x Sennheiser and Beyer: Of course, one can cite the price differences here alone, approximately 140, 220 and 320 are, in my view already significant differences. Since it is no surprise less that the Beyerdynamic then also makes the slightly worse figure when it comes to the mobility or the sound for example. However, if you are looking for something on the Internet and can also wait for lightning deals etc., finds the Sennheiser Momentum (1st Gen) partially already for 130-150 (Amazon abroad for example), the 2nd generation there (with cable) already for 260-270. Since I consider myself rather as an opportunity listener who will prefer to use the headset on the receiver, it will be with me probably the Sennheiser Momentum 1st generation. While sitting 2nd Gen. better on the ears, is designed for Android and you can fold the ear cups, but they are not much more compact due to the larger ears. In addition to me simply a 6.35mm jack adapter and / or a separate cable is missing. Since the 1st generation is better equipped. In addition, I can just do without even quieter so on up / when I have to pay for it 100 less. On top of that I rarely hip-hop or pop etc. hear where that would be more beneficial Bass.
Finally, should also be mentioned that this is my subjective perception and each listener has different requirements. I can really recommend it to anyone to hear a lot of headphones, for example, in specialist shops, sample.
