My situation and why I needed the distributor:
I've bought recently a Sony PS3 and wanted this via Toslink (optical) connected to my amplifier. Since this has only one digital input and this is already hanging my satellite receiver, I needed a way to infect both devices at the same time because I did not want umstöpseln always manually. The distribution seemed the solution, although it says in the description that he shares an outgoing signal to two signals and not the other way around (as I need it). But I read in another review that it can also, and have given him.
Now when you connect I only have short-optic cables used (3 × 50 cm), but which were now no high-end cable. The important thing is really that the cables are firmly and that they, if all goes well no longer be moved great, because it may otherwise come to dropouts. It is also important that all cables are plugged in properly, because when you plug in the distribution and 180 ° inclinations are possible. So plug in all the cables the same.
After I had everything plugged in properly, though the sound was on the Playstation, but not on the satellite receiver, even though the PS3 has been switched off and even disconnected from power. I then replaced the plugs of both devices. Now came the sound from the satellite receiver, but no longer on the Playstation. I then both devices disconnected from the power, wait briefly. Lo and behold, since the distribution does what I wanted from him. The important thing is that there is always only the device and sends signals of what I want to hear the sound, and happy you. Once both devices are simultaneously on, it favors in the PS3. If this is on standby, is the SAT receiver tone. So be heck.
Because now everything works great and the price was really cheap, I would give it 5 stars. Due to the complicated and long attempts until I brought it to work there "only" 4 stars.
One more word for signal quality: It depends on the amplifier to super, noticing no losses and, of course, all digital signals are transmitted, as without the distribution (ie DTS, DD 5.1, Dolby Stereo).
