Visually, the knife is excellent and already does something forth. As a collector or exhibit quite an eye-catcher.
Taking the knife in his hand, one notices immediately that the wood siding sting a little uncomfortable in the hand. May be have a little rounded. A closer look at the wood is locally also about standing and not entirely accurately. With frequent use, there is a high risk of fracture here. Advantageously, in this case, however, that the shells are screwed. They can therefore easily lose weight, grind or replace with your own dishes according to their needs.
The opening mechanism is practical and visually make her a lot. The knife can be easily opened with one hand. Here I have nothing to complain about.
The blade make a solid impression, acts compared to the handle but very narrow, somewhat out of proportion. The focus on delivery is rather poor. Also resharpening is difficult, which is probably at 440 (C?) Steel. How long this "Focus" is held, I can not judge. Desirable but would be a degree of severity, which at least can cut a simple piece of paper with a downward movement without "saw" to have. The balance point between blade and handle, however, is almost in the middle, so ideal.
After multiple open lot with me out the first screw. I could easily find them, but may not be something like this, you eventually buys no knife kit but an operational diameter. And since Torx screws were used, in my opinion totally unnecessary helical shape, the coil without proper tools are not fixable. A handy and use friendly knife should have in my opinion-head screws with an appropriate slot size. So you can, if necessary, also use coins or similar narrow in order to repair or service the meter at any time anywhere can.
All in all, I expected more, but not regret buying at this price. Because of the complete screw everything can be exchanged and replaced if necessary, the screw itself.
UPDATE 09/14/2014
The knife is unfortunately already broken and no longer readily available. The knife was located since 01.09.2014 in daily use. Before that, it was sharpened. After these 14 days, all the screws were so loose that the blade wobbled and safe use was no longer possible. Because of Torx Schraubenn used I first had to invest in new tools. The Torx screws used are very poor quality and turn quickly, or are worn out quickly.
Overall, I had to invest about 14 hours to bring the knife by means of a manual knife sharpener to even begin acceptable sharpness. With quality from Solingen, this has nothing to do. The tip of the blade is broken and bent after one week something. Furthermore, had to be sharpened every day the blade. The knife was used to cut cardboard and cut straps of plastic. No strong, deadening materials. Normally for each knife a underload.
Useless the knife was then when I tried to fix the existing deficiencies. The main issue was the handle made of wood, which are so poorly adapted to survive and cut through corners in the palm of your hand. So I wanted to break down and rework the handles. Unfortunately, keeping the same screws that hold the wooden parts and the whole knife together. Thus, I had to break down the entire blade, which in itself also is not a problem and in cleaning and maintenance is actually normal. However, after the reassembly put the pen does not work properly, despite oil the blade is no longer smoothly enough (it was not the two washers forget!). The worst, however, making the knife useless also is that the lock does not work anymore with the liner lock. The knife is no longer safe!
Conclusion after less than one month hence:
The knife is not suitable for everyday use and is at best represents a cheap showpiece. The items to be sold and declared as this. To use the quality too poor and the risk of injury is too high.
From my side so there is no buy recommendation and forcibly still a star. The predicate "Solingen Sword" has earned this knife under any circumstances.
