REM, another important American band of the 1980s, recently announced his separation. The decision comes after the latest albums offered by the group since 'Monster', of variable quality, are all proven to be somewhat artistically necessary. RHCP is a slightly younger group REM but dated his last productions are obviously less critical than 'Styley Freaky', 'Mofo Party Plan' or 'BloodSugarSexMagick' have been at their respective outputs. The shift "rock ballad" taken by the group gave beautiful drives but competition for RHCP is (too) high on the niche for them to consider a sustainable conversion. 'I'm With You' is the product of quality craftsmanship, it contains passages or gently funky disco but remains in line with some records that preceded it. The new guitarist is most often in the background, resulting in a "drum & bass" side on several tracks. It lacks at least one or two titles frankly pop or with a memorable chorus or with a new artistic position to raise 'I'm With You' above the lot.
