The writers seem to have a certain age (at least in their minds), easily identifying the face tradition that modernity of the country. Video games are for kids or "addicts", the animation is almost completely ignored, or abused (spelling mistakes in the names of Miyazaki Tezuka is rather shameful). The Breton Backpacker prefer the ruins and did not apparently sought to understand contemporary Japan.
Even more annoying, the "vicinity" of the title are very limited: how to override Osaka and Kobe are within 50 km of Kyoto?
In short, a guide to confirm assumptions, very dispensable, except if you really are not looking to think outside the (urban) beaten.
