A writer that experienced in great shape in the early books of the series of Charlie Parker and, over time gradually became a caricature of itself. Anthology was known villains, the hero's entourage was searched, depth, the devious intrigues, all this is well and truly over. One feels more here writing to the chain, the need to give his book a year, in short more much energy or enthusiasm on the part of the author. This is understandable - few sets that keep their standard over time - except James Lee Burke, it would be hard to find.
