Design and manufacturing
The HD 600 has a very classic, hi-tech design. Oval earpieces that completely enclose the ear. A padded strap that rests evenly on the head. For the purpose of sizing the ear cups are attached to a piece of spring steel that latching runs inside the temple. Overall, the result is a pleasing, round, smooth impression without corners and edges.
The ear cups are movable in two axes. The outside of the ear cups are covered with a metal grid, the HD 600 is indeed an open headphones. Ironing and earpieces sindmit black velor upholstery. The rest is mostly made of plastic.
On the whole, the handset is sleek and unaffällig if not would be strange marbled pattern of plastic parts. That may have been times in the 80 currently, now it seems a bit strange.
Another oddity: the fork, where the two ear cups are suspended, are continued on the pinna as edging. The crossing point zwischend he movable fork and continuing on the pinna part looks at first glance like a breaking point.
Technical Specifications
The impedance of the listener is 300th This is for feeble MP3 players and mobile phones something much, but to my former Galaxy S2 was the volume indoors still sufficient. For outdoor, the listener is anyway not suitable due to the open concept and the size.
The frequency response is the manufacturer of 12-39000 Hz specified, the indication of lowering of the two cut-off frequencies is unfortunately missing.
The cable is about 3 m long and smooth, so no spiral cable. There is a 3.5mm jack mounted on an adapter 6 mm is.
Wearing comfort
In my head fit the HD 600 rather well, much better than the AKG 701, I heard also sample. The oval earpieces do not press on the jaw bone, the ears are still covered. The temple is on evenly and is pleasantly soft.
The long, uncoiled cable disturbs sometimes, because it lying around somewhere in the area and you often get tangled up. On the other hand exerts a spiral cable sometimes from an unpleasant train on the headphones. Happy is just never together.
After extended wear (from about 2 hours) to me, the listener is too heavy.
Sound
Balanced. That sums it up best. Wherever it comes to a good bass, the Sennheiser is well forward. He is not a Krabumm listeners, but the differences between bass and cello are clearer than competitive products of the same price range.
But for that lack a certain liveliness. I have the range of 5 to 7 kHz with an equalizer raised slightly (just under 6 db).
Despite the small Equilizer tricks I have the Sennheiser especially with soft music always feel heard through cotton. It sounds undynamic and lame.
Conclusion
The HD 600 is a very useful all-round headphones with enough bass. He is never intrusive or annoying. But he is not really dynamic and exciting. The decision for this headset was a compromise, more than the 300 that it cost 3 years ago, I did not want to spend. In this price range it was the best thing I could find. For the current price (398.-) I would not take him again today.
