What submit Norah and her very handsome band here with the new album, has neither charm nor character or bite. You hear a lot Studio and little heart, everything sounds perfect and smooth to the last detail. There is much here set to (new) sounds rather than good songs. Especially scale instruments such as strings or an electric guitar with distorted garage sound from far behind to be used and thus destroy the transparent Norah-typical, reduced sound of past albums.
Thus, for. Example, the song "Rosie's Lullaby" (Track 12) in the live version (here on Amazon to see the video and hear) a lot more lively and touching than the totgemischte Studio version on the album.
That there is no real catchy tune on this new CD by Norah, was mentioned frequently, but do not bother me further. That was me on the first two albums also so and only after repeated listening to the catchy effect ceased. Only it will be difficult for me to listen to this CD often. Well, maybe in the background while doing the dishes.
Conclusion: A quiet, smooth and unobtrusive album; but it does not touch.
