I own a Lenovo X121e netbook with Ubuntu 64-bit operating system. With the wireless receiver via the built-in Realtek RTL8188CE module there were permanent problems. Disconnections, bad modem speed, Error roaming occurred constantly. An exchange of the module to an Intel product was not possible, according to Lenovo. I have the Intel Centrino Advanced - N6200 still purchased and installed in the second slot for the UMTS module. There, the lock did not recognize the wireless module in the BIOS and the module immediately ran without any demand in Ubuntu. Since then there has been no single disconnect more and the speed has improved significantly.
A downer there was still with the new Intel Centrino N6200. After waking up the computer from standby, the radio network was on hardware Off. That was particularly stupid, because the X212e has no hardware switches for WLAN. In a normal reboot everything was back in order.
On a forum I have found the following info: [...] Thereafter, the control signal for the hardware On / Off at the Intel Centrino 6200 WiFi card is transmitted to pin 20. After I pin 20 covered with tape everything is perfect - even waking up from standby.
