The following review refers to the white version of the EeePC 1005HA-M in the Windows 7 Starter edition.
Technically, the EeePC 1005HA-M takes off only slightly from the other current netbooks. Intel Atom N270, 1GB of RAM, and the other key data sound, if you look at the netbook looks around something very familiar. Battery life
Essential for a netbook is of course the battery life. The EeePC 1005HA-M convinces here. The time specified by the manufacturer of 8.5 hours even exceeded with me. After one hour of operation and activated WLAN the battery indicator shows 89% and while composing this review, this means a remaining duration of 8h. 49min. More than adequate until the next outlet. The first endurance test at 50% screen brightness in power-saving mode of the EeePC with activated WLAN reached about 8 hours. Here some data has been copied from an external hard drive on the netbook meantime however. Dead battery (5%) is fully charged the EeePC is switched off in less than 2 hours.
Operating system
The pre-installed Windows 7 Starter Edition makes some customers for dissatisfaction. Also I was initially skeptical about this release because we read frequently about the restricted user settings (such as the often mentioned lack of possibility to change the background image). Now that I have worked the first day with the Windows 7 Starter Edition, I realized that the information provided in the Starter Edition features for use on a netbook completely sufficient. That the background image can not be changed is a pity, however, because the existing looks quite modern, but to get over. - I guess I'll think in a few weeks but differently about - Other missing features like the Aero interface, live thumbnails, users change without logging on and off, ad hoc networks, the media center, etc. are for a netbook of less importance. As with the hardware should always consider a netbook, for which one it actually procures and what features you would expect from it. The first start-up is pretty fast by Equip. The initial setup was also done quickly and many pre-installed programs that needed to delete, were not available to happiness. Also, access to the local WLAN worked immediately.
