The first: Denmark was arbitrarily chosen as the home of Prince here and that is in various points a mistake. It starts with the fact that Edward and Arabella (name of sister) are not really Danish names. Especially Arabella sounds like stealing from a Disney movie. The fact that the police is as locks for a car race times, the road course as absurd as many other operations on fictitious Danish royal court. There is a point deduction, because even though Denmark from the US is incredibly far away, you could at least have to research the basics better - or should opt in "The Princess Diaries" equal for a fictitious kingdom.
Nevertheless, Denmark is not the focus of the film, but provides only the framework of the story is, and to stiffen such on factual errors in a simple princesses Girls film, is perhaps a bit too narrow-minded in my eyes. On the whole, it's all about the topic "Pampered villain grows up" - and that the film has good rübergebracht in my eyes. Edward tried initially still to behave at home (and thousands of pressure-closed eyes to meet in view of his actions) he is quickly brought to the earth. Since he is incognito at the university, he is treated like any other. And that means: Punctuality, examinations and a student job to make ends meet. Edward gets to know the real life and not just to appreciate its higher standing position, but also to assume the responsibility which rests upon him as crown prince and later as king.
Julia Stiles and Luke Mably are excellently chosen for their roles actor in my eyes. The story is entertaining and apart from the Denmark-issue also quite positively for me. Too bad that the following parts not only because of exchanged actors, but also completely illogical story only are grottenschlecht just yet. This one I can but recommend.
