Commissioning:
not quite as straightforward as with the Kindle, but not difficult :-)
Switch on the device, the battery was already charged 75% (nice touch!)
Switch to German language About settings :-)
Enable WiFi connection settings
The Kindle app is preinstalled
About AppStore Skoobe can be easily installed (should not be pre-installed AppStore, just go through the browser on amazon appstore and load)
May unsubscribe Skoobe on another device (just as a reminder :-)) to also have free an account.
Select Skoobe app, log in, you can already select in his personal settings a book and there continue where you left off, or even new search ...
Perfect!
However, one must not forget here that the Icarus just like the Kindle has only a black / white display and therefore the appearance of colored book cover is not really nice. For me, this is not really a drawback, select and put on the watch list, I will continue my books on the iPad, read about the Icarus.
KindleApp ...
It does not quite soooo great as with Skoobe because the font is kept very light. However, I have a little playing around with the fonts, and then also appear differently on the display dark. Whoever exclusively reads Kindle format would be better access to another device. The brightness of the display would be set in the KindleApp again separately, here does not assume the app the values set on the device.
The integrated light can be almost infinitely by no lighting to "violently bright" set.
Since I already write the review on the delivery date of the device, I can not say much for the battery life, but there also always play a role many points (brightness setting, WLAN, etc.)
There are pre-installed some free books and I have tried it myself for fun, to draw documents (PDF) on the Icarus.
Simply plugged to the PC, create a new folder under Documents and dragged a few PDFs. Works fine, but I did read selbiger on the Icarus little fun ... To be fair, it must be said that the PDFs were also images and the font sizes per PDF varied greatly (I Strickanleitungen used as guinea pigs). Here could not be increased in all the Scriptures, and where it worked, then the original anyway big headline has taken over the complete page. To this end, I more than 2 points, but the fall for me not really significant since the Icarus I is not intended for it.
For me perfect as Skoobe running properly and the brightness is adjustable as desired. The KindleApp is on the device still in need of improvement, but acceptable for me.
Addendum:
Now that I have the Icarus almost 2 weeks use, I can also give information on the battery.
With a fully charged battery I could about Reading a book with over 400 pages. The WLAN was of about 2 hours in operation and the light was turned on while 3 (24) bar.
In idle mode the battery lasts about 3 days.
With my Kindle (with no integrated light) I get 2 to 3 times as much. So here's the Icarus also still room for improvement :-)
Scripture Focus varies partially, if you change the brightness level ...
