Epic and sensitive!

There is something striking and hopeful in this novel épique.A 80 years to live, walk despite Sjögren's syndrome and solve a tragic criminal case. Gerlof, former submariner, will find from a package (sandal) the murderer who kidnapped his little son "Jens" twenty years earlier and sweep in 400 pages the moving story of the inhabitants of the island of Öland, Sweden's small island.
First novel and first coup for Johan Theorin, he splashes the closed-door haunted by an enchanting atmosphere and explores family ties torn by murder Jens in a direct style with short chapters (thus accentuating a ruffling final). The solitude and sensitivity of people espouse marvelously this wild and mysterious country so difficult to live all year.
Beautiful and so sensitive that I had a few tears at the thought of losing a child in similar circumstances and painful.
This book will become a classic crime fiction.
