I run it on the D300, take photographs in RAW and developing with Lightroom 4.1. The lens distorted especially in wide angle position significantly, but can be corrected very well with the Lens Correction.
The photos are extremely sharp, the focus without correction (goes in the D300 yes) to the point. In Aperture 6.7 or 8 which photos are most sharply at me. The lens is not particularly bright (clear against the 1.4er little comes on), with a fill-in flash (bounced against the ceiling) can, however, make great indoor shots, even at twilight.
The mechanics are safely below the usual standard Nikon, but for 99 EUR, it is absolutely fine. The focus drive is also much louder than my prime lenses (which cost at least twice). If it should break, I would even again buy more of.
For the price less a real gem!
