The in this country almost unknown masterpiece returns back from a wonderful cheerful collection of oddities and treasures. Stories about Chuck E. Weiss, there are many and he has a soft spot for little to tell them always different, but backed up is probably that once Lightnin 'Hopkins discovered the young teenager and avid drummer in Denver in which heimatlicher Tribe Bluesbar and included in his backing band. So he learned gradually collected prominence of the Blues, and was familiar with them part of the story.

He was even known as an artist but only in 1981 with his first album "The Other Side Of Town", in which it pays to the way a listen sometimes, on the play, a certain Mac Rebennack, aka Dr. John, the piano as if it were sings about his life and a woman Jones with him in a duet. The same Rickie Lee Jones two years ago already dedicated to him in their debut album a song.
Until his second album, it should take 18 years, but since the appearance in regular irregularity the musical gems of Mr Weiss, who move playfully in the field between Blues, Zydeco, rock and roll, folk and jazz.
His music is noted this serenity that can only be the result of such a long career and it is also the serenity of an artist who has always been there, but was never in the center. Weiss's funny without being silly, precisely because he is relaxed and has fun with music. Prove he has nothing but his inside story that gives her what. Since the 1999 album produced his friend Tom Waits and you can hear that. Who influenced whom here is to identify barely, but that does not matter, because it is truly for either of them a disgrace to be influenced by others. Co Producer is today just as it did '99 was none other than Mr. Depp. Yes exactly that! What impact this has on the music, everyone likes to find out for yourself. The fact is that the Jonny is a music lover and as such he is not entirely wrong when he referred to this album as not only the best Chucks and mature album, but also as the most important album of the year at all.

Well, very good, it is all. And one that exudes a breath of fresh air on a lot of stable smell, this amusing, colorful blend of blues, boogie and many other Urstilrichtungen of American music. But even if the songs sometimes slightly protrude from the broad spectrum of the album out in poppier climes, that does not mean that this is not still very proper sounds and rumbles at every nook and cranny. But there is always a pleasing rumble, finally Chuck has his rough-nuclear voice for some time nothing more to prove than Tom. A cute urwüchsiges album and its artists who want to be absolutely discovered.

The zwölfzollige output is from the basic information fro a blockbuster. Two .45 slices in a fancy gatefold plus a convenient CD. Everything sounds very neat. - Unfortunately, my two discs are very bumpy and the respective B-side pressed except center. Let's see if the Exchange brings improvement (to be completed).
- Addition: Exchange brought nothing and even preview or even seen by two other copies had unfortunately dwindling hopes of an outlier. Too Bad -
