Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (CD-ROM)

Customer Review

Hey, so I must admit that I was banned as a little boy playing video games (which I brought it to today to do more than was good for me, but only at the margins), so I know the original Donkey Kong series only from sit and watch with friends. So this is my first Donkey Kong game. I play on a XL, so I can tell the graphics bad.

Graphically and technically gameplay now offers me DKR3D nothing new. Just as the story that would become a Kirby (AHH MY CAKE) very good stead. Still, I give it 5 stars! How So? Well, it is not to inspire even the overhauled gameplay and story of Jump and Run's easy today. Nevertheless, there's of course a little something to complain about what is already perfect in life ?!

What I have just a little interferes with gameplay existing aids for beginners, which are used especially for DS games to Hauf. I have reviews for Wii game so the original game looked, and know a lot more support in the DS game. Sure, I'm playing so well in the "new mode" which has been so touted, therefore no point deduction, but hey, if a game is updated and ported, then of course I play this new version, which was written for the system. Is nice but that you can also select the original Wiimode and then allowed to play a (still) heavier tracks. I wish in retrospect I would have started in this fashion, this "new mode" is really what newcomers with assistance at every turn (DK for Dummies). Basically difficulty has been replaced by this Modiauswahl, I would have known just like before it then it is relatively easy;)

Graphically convinced the title! Even if he is represented XL usual pixelated he looks good, the animations are bomb that used 3D effects very well. Waves, enemies, items etc literally fly out of the picture, but the effect is not exaggerated as in other games.
The gameplay is very variable. Hopping, rolling, floating, climbing, Blow, "Drums / pounding". Opponents often require combinations of several attacks (eg only blow out a flaming enemy, then jump on the head or rolling over), which matches the rest of the game, it is very complex. As a beginner, therefore, the above bemeckerte "new mode" is even recommended for advanced players, this part, so I suppose, because I only know Mario parts, but not DK a challenge when you play in Classic mode. Even so, a "modern thing" are the Collectable Items, as we know from almost all newer games. In DK Returns 3D are the banana, banana coins, "K, O, N, G" Letter, balloons, puzzle pieces and DiddyKong barrels. Here bananas extra balloons, balloons bring "1up" KONG bring no idea to be erhlich = P, puzzle pieces artwork for the game, and the barrels are something like powerups (like the great Mario), by Diddy a jump on your back and you kurzzeiteig can float, and continuously roll. This itemsammelei may increase the replay value, but do not contribute to the success of a good game in. A few less items would have done it for me, but it should be noted there are also them without much "experience".

The control I find a bit unfortunate, because even if I have a XL (big hands!) Are some sequences so complex: for example, roll attack with the following hover from which one is to go into the climbing mode, that it seems almost unmögich on the 3DS not his hand: to let cramp (in this Example, left / right, simultaneously X / Y with the following A / B button, holding, then L / R holding back left / right). I like this relatively complex sequences, on a handheld, especially the heavier XL model, but they are quickly overwhelming for the hand. However, one can choose from 2 types of control, which I already mentioned, the game modes, very successful find above. I still can not decide whether I prefer the Circle Pad, or the directional pad option as well, everyone has their preference.

The sound design is awesome. But I also find no words. I read that old DK titles were reissued and old sounds were reused. If so, then all the better, enjoy old DK lovers and newcomers like I Fre music and sound effects.

Conclusion: It is definitely among my personal duty titles for the 3DS. Though a Wii port is "only", so this is more than successful and creates by the 3D effect well employed a whole new level. Who has the title already on the Wii is down to 3D hardly able to experience new here. Technically sound and gameplay this title is very far forward and can be purchased without hesitation. For Kids and newcomers is the "new mode" determines good because DK Returns 3D is very tricky in some places. One should not be a revolution in the genre expect, but here you have brought a more than solid Jump n Run title on the 3DS!
