A measuring device is only useful if it is accurate. Electronic engineer, I brought this to the laboratory meter in my employer to compare with measurements made by professional devices costing several thousand Euros. In particular, I compared its indications with those of a Chroma programmable AC power supply and I was surprised that his measurements were accurate to the nearest digit (smaller figure shown on the display). At least regarding the copy that I bought, it's not a gimmick, it is a reliable and accurate instrument.
