The last 4-5 years I had always Canon multifunction printers in use, most recently the MP610. Printouts of inkjet photo paper are unmatched especially in photos. Although the color images of a laser are quite respectable, they are just yet uploaded any photos. In short, a laser printer will win the Photo printing any beauty contests, for the domestic wall reichts all. The ink technology has its downsides. Often you spend more time at the end of the cleaning and replacing the cartridges and print heads when the print itself.
The fax can now easily done via the Internet. Digital photo prints have become cheaper than analog photos and they are available when needed, even as instant printing at the drugstore on the corner. Thus, for me, the last major argument contrasting laser printing had fallen.
A little Big
The CLX-3175 is incredibly compact for a multifunction laser printer. Surprisingly for me, compared to the MP610 operates the CLX narrower. The 150 sheets of paper drawer is forward something out of the machine when using A4 paper. That's great, because we always see, whether there is enough paper for the next print job in the shaft. The operating elements are clearly and self-explanatory. Overall, the small black looks so very classy - almost too good for a place somewhere on the shelf.
Duplex, it goes without
A duplex unit as the MP610, so the automatic two-sided printing would have been nice. Given the resultant price increase was then quickly no longer an issue. This is where the manual duplex printing, the good old hand;)
Scans smart
The unit integrates perfectly with the Windows 7 Devices and Printers, and can thus be operated directly with Windows means. Since the drivers come directly from the Windows Update function in the system, I have the software do not even installed. Under XP SP3, there are also no problems. Copying without PC works just fine. Those who prefer paperless, the copy may be equal to output as an image file or PDF on a stick connected to the printer - class! Not surprisingly, without the ADF, the machine scans always maximum one page, then must be changed manually. The document cover has neat game. Books, magazines or similar can be placed easily. At the scanner, there is nothing to complain about.
4 color pages per minute?
The complaints about the "smell" I can not understand. Who was ever on a copier or laser printer has worked with, can look forward to no surprise.
With 24 color pages per minute I was significantly speed pampered at Canon, as one might think, if you compare that with the 4 color pages of CLX. But, the CLX print these 4 pages directly after turning sharp and free of streaks of what I can not say from the MP610 and its predecessors. Because with ink that is often a mid-heavy drama. The ink dries up, the nozzles are cleaned after switching time consuming and in some cases before any expression, then lubricates the printhead .... In short, I can live fine with the 4 sides, for they come like clockwork. In addition, this device easily a holiday long (or longer as desired) can be parked. Every time you turn the CLX prints just like the first day.
CONCLUSION: quiet, reliable, compact and affordable replacement toner yield an unbeatable price-performance ratio. For this 5 star and thus a strong buy recommendation from me!
