So I looked into this product an alternative to the integrated Realtek chip (having more space for a PCI card) on my old PC, and am not disappointed:
+ Installation / automatic and instant configuration (tested on Ubuntu 10.10 and Seven x86) from the start
(No need to bring drivers and their installation order: one USB branch is ready after 10s.)
+ Sound output (analog, helmet) of good quality (best in Seven that the integrated audio)
+ Sound input (microphone) just as good
(Did not test the digital output with the adapter)
- Provides only stereo analog output (+ optical digital adapter) and an input (microphone) analog
(Ie the essential and a little more, actually)
- Like many USB Device into a "key" do not easily coexist with others of his kind without extension (especially in front) because of congestion.
(Relatively late, however)
This product is an excellent alternative to an internal device, in particular to replace it in case of absence or malfunction.
We can also imagine the solutions it can offer as part of mobile use on compatible systems.
