Since the Garmin maps are very expensive, the software needed for the use of cards and equipment can be loaded free from the Internet but you can use the free (and very good) cards Openstreetmap.com or openmtbmap.com without problems.
Garmin will update the software constantly, and the MAC versions are always useful.
The latest firmware for the EDGE 705 now supports SD card> 2GB and SDHC cards!
