First the positive:
- The picture is top notch. HDTV and normal digital stations via cable (DVB-C) look top.
- The operation is simple and intuitive
- Super I find the automatic adjustment of brightness, and the motion sensor that turns off the screen and after a while the whole television, when running it by mistake, although you do not sit in front of it.
- The remote control is well structured and fits comfortably in your hand
- My 18 months "old" Sony DVD / HDD recorder could easily switch via HDMI, the operation will be integrated into the television thanks to BRAVIA Sync.
- The networking capabilities are extensive, Youtube and Tagesschau I use often, but there are several other services available as well as podcast support and playing media files on the home network (DLNA)
- Playback of DivX video and MP3 files on my Windows 7 computer is working properly. Even the album art will be displayed in music.
- Windows 7 recognizes the TV in the network and then install a driver. Per function "Play To" you can simply click on a song or video and send it to TV, and it automatically begins to play the file
- Very handy, I find that the TV can be rotated
- The design is very well done, simply looks amazing
- The sound is actually quite ok for a LED TV. I, however, the disabled and connected the TV to my system.
The neutral:
- The image quality of analog sources is not optimal. Since this is my first LCD TV, I can not compare it with other. However, I did not bother, since I also digitally receive all the stations.
- Under "Advanced Network" There is the hint, you should register the TV online to enable advanced features. However, Germany is not available and therefore is currently impossible to register. Probably that will come? [Update 20.07.2010] Meanwhile, the offer has grown: there are videos to broadcasts of Pro7 / Sat1 / K1 and other services. The device can now also register in the German area. As PayTV content currently offered by the Berliner Philarmoniker only what. I guess here is something else will do.
The negative:
- Does not MKV files from over the network / USB. But I know of no TV, the (already) can do that. [Update 20.07.2010] There are well-TV, the better hinbekommen :)
- The TV responds somewhat sluggish on the "Favorites" button
- When digital Autotune all saved stations from the cable network, although I "Free only" selected. Deleting the entire pay-TV broadcaster, which I can not see, something could go faster.
- The Order of the transmitters is simple but a bit sluggish, so I've still got no desire to sort the channel to my taste.
- Digital radio stations are displayed unseparated from the TV stations. Not bad, eh all get to the TV channels.
All in all a great device that delivers a quality image and trumps with many functions.
When I once ordered my station, there will hardly be anything else is bothering me. But hopefully improved Sony one or the other little thing with a software update from.
Who does not need the satellite connection can for the EX700 series look out, would have to be a little cheaper. Who LED does not matter, is with an EX500 or EX505 also very well cared for.
A very strong buy recommendation, in this segment there is nothing better on the market!
[Update 20.07.2010]
Am still very satisfied with this device. The picture is really great, the service very good and the power-management features very practical.
Only the limited support of video formats when playing via network / USB is still a little disappointing. Since I will soon provide me with the purchase of the Sony BDP-S373 BluRay player Remedy. The fact is just about everything can play and be integrated relatively seamlessly via BRAVIA Sync to control the TV.
