Extend activation problems even at unlisted University

(To the product is not much good to be said, it's just the standard that almost all use.
Of course there are other good and less expensive or even free office programs, but if you frequently need to share files with other institutions, we will not get around Microsoft Office. The import and export filters other programs encounter eventually reach their limits and then the formatting is hacked - and the price of Office 2010 version University's approximately 83, -. Also fair Euro)

Now comes the real and other hopefully useful part of my review:

I had concerns about whether the activation would work, because my university is an administrative college which often does not show up in the lists of software companies. Unfortunately you can not see in advance at Microsoft the list of known universities, but only if you have entered the PIN of the purchased office suite. Whether there are alternative activation options, is also nowhere stated so clearly. Therefore I bought at Amazon, because the return would have been not so complicated.

In fact, my school was not listed, so that was not possible an automatic activation. And there were offered on the registration page several contact possibilities to reach the activation code, namely by email and a phone number. I opted for the phone number, because it was a 0180-5er number and I call therefore manageable 14 ct / min. cost (and because I am not so patient in such matters, and the same wants to know where I stand).

That was exactly the right choice: I had almost immediately a nice lady on the phone who has received a few personal data and data for school and my email address at the school. After a brief pause she dictated to me an authorization code that I had to enter simultaneously on the registration page, and then my unlock code is generated and displayed on the screen. The unlock code will be saved under the Windows LiveID.

The telephone conversation lasted about 15 minutes and cost 2.10 euros, because some information on the safety spells and had to be repeated and compared - and because I had misheard once and have a second attempt with a second authorization code required. The overall result was fast but worth the effort all the time.
