Falk bag for navigation systems Falk F-series, black

The navigation device Falk Vision 700 is with me now about 1 month in use. Before that I used for many years a N220L also by Falk with permanently installed car holder (brand Brodit; at that time was sold through the Falk shop). Here my personal experience with the Vision 700 and the supplied or acquired to Accessories, and I would particularly address the advertised as particularly innovative aerial maps. First, the list of purchased products:

- Falk Vision 700
- Falk aerial maps (acquired Falk shop for 19.99)
- SDHC Memory Card with 16GB
- Leather case black (sold on Amazon for the F-Series, but is tailored for the Vision 700, model number 1678970000)

Even the packaging of the Vision 700 comes stylish therefore, is surpassed in this respect but the device itself many times over. The unit works out of the box quality, is processed präsize, nothing knarrzt, the gaps are precisely. My hope was to be able to continue using the already mentioned Autohalterung the N220L with the vision of what actually worked. Bundled with the vision magnet holder is fully compatible with the car cradle. The magnetic holder itself is downright ingenious: The vision is sitting in it super tight, but nevertheless can be easily removed at any time. Furthermore fits the above leather case perfectly and is - to match the Navi - very high quality.

After charging and switching on the device I was now very tense called the most advertised. "Sensitive Touch Display", probably intended to serve as a special selling point in addition to the aerial maps. The result was sobering! No difference for me as a user was to determine my elderly N220L. No sign of special sensitivity. The display is in my opinion just as sensitive or may not like any other normal display also. The development department of Falk is - insofar as this would anyone read along from there here - advised to acquire eg once a Samsung S8500 Wave (smartphone) to find out what is understood today by a particularly sensitive display ...

As the TMC reception The connection to the satellite was made very quickly, even without external antenna: The first time you use the Vision 700 on the road showed but then again the strengths of Falk devices, which I already knew from N220L ago. The display on the screen is accurate, the navigation device performs the activity for which it is provided, according to my experience so far with no problems.

As a special highlight should then now also the aerial maps come to use. The price for the Falk shop with currently only 19.99 can be described as surprisingly moderate. For this you get 2 DVD's with the maps ... and so then took the misery its course! According to the information presented on the DVD packaging instructions first the whole map material to be transferred to a PC. This is an amount of data to be extracted from approximately 14 GB. Although, I have a laptop with the latest technology and high-speed BD drive this process lasted - after I had begun to 20:00 - all night. Well, anyway ... Less matter was that stopped the computer to complete the process and restart was significantly slower than before. Only a disk defragmentation procured remedy. My plan was then now therefore to transfer this amount of data on the SDHC card (16GB), either via the included USB cable or a card reader located in the laptop. For this I started the standard delivered with the Vision 700 on a DVD Falk - Navimanager I had previously installed on the PC, and ... nothing! No trace of aerial maps despite all attempts. A comparison of the version numbers of the Navi-Manager 1 was an hour later, then the statement: The only just delivered only with the Vision 700 version is out of date and not suitable for the display of aerial maps. Only the installation of a newer version that is nicely tucked away to be found on the 1st aerial map DVD, led to partial success. Now therefore the Navi-Manager to access the uploaded to the PC aerial maps should now allowed so logically the cards are completely transferred to the memory card in the Vision 700. However, this was not possible !!!! It could of me in Navi-Manager only individually called tiles or be selected with the mouse for the transmission, which Germany is divided into countless tiles (it may well be thousands) that would individually in hours or days of work must be clicked. However, after about 50-60 clicked tiles, I received an error message from the Navi-Mangers. In the end it is probably Falk apparently provided so that only transmits a small map section, which covers the driving distance. Is just stupid if you still want to go somewhere else long time. Even this fact is not mentioned at all on the Falk sites. As a buyer, I had rather the impression that one could buy the aerial maps of Germany, and then fully install on a memory card in the Vision 700. However, this was not possible. Also a written demand at Falk support brought no solution. In response, I received - as with the problems with the N220L - a largely meaningless answers-mail with general tips that dealt with the issue in any way.
So then I chose my immediate living area for transfer to the SDHC card (the selection must then be stored again only on the PC) and then transferred these maps on the memory card. This has led, however, to the fact that the pre-installed in the device aerial maps for 10 cities were automatically erased, though there were these data in the flash ROM of the Vision 700, because it can only 1 (tiled) selection will be stored in the device. A new selection will inevitably lead to the deletion of existing data. The presentation of maps on the screen of the navigation system is then of rather low resolution, more like an additional gadget and not a comparison with the map display such as on Google Maps.

My Result: When Vision 700 is a high-quality stylish navigation, power-packed and absolute practicality. . The two main selling points, namely the so-called "Sensitive Touch Display" and the aerial maps can - at least to me - but not confirmed as positive. Remedy with regard to the aerial maps could only another Navi Manager - create an update, then the card can be completely transferred to the. As the device, apart from these two negative points, is top I forgive even 4 stars. When buying the Alternative Vision 500 can be drawn (without aerial maps) into consideration, in which then, however, must also do without the free map subscription and TMC-Pro.
