Since the previous review already covers the story i want to skip did and just get straight to my opinion about this book. As to Eruopean living in Asia I can relate to this topic very well. It was extremely fascinating to see the straggle with a different culture from the opposite side. The beginning of the book is very funny and the main character encounters the typical problems one has to face When moving to a different country. Especially the parts about the language where hillarious. Learning Mandarin myself makes it easy to understand why she has difficulties in Certain points. Then the book gets "deeper", more intense and serious. Her struggle with the relationship which the most fascinating part of the book. How it starts, changes and Eventually fails. The very sad ending doesnt change the impression of a very enjoyable book. But so deeply moving ...
