The technical side is at first glance certainly impressive. Rarely has one seen in an adventure game so beautiful and realistic textures. In particular, the faces are partially almost photorealistic. Unfortunately, many of the environments (especially on the island) rather monotonous. Everywhere a greenish-brown mush, where you then must look for the hotspots. The setting is sparse, but very atmospheric. Most speakers do well.
Nevertheless, one wonders inevitably where this (for adventure Verhältnissse) downright incredible hardware hunger comes from. Even on systems with which you can play current FPS, it jerky at times. Apparently there is a memory problem in the game, which will hopefully be resolved soon.
The story is very interesting. It's about near-death experiences. Many different people who should really be dead, wake up on a deserted island in the middle of nowhere and do not know what hit them. It's about to solve this mystery and find out what is going on with this island to itself. For friends mysterious and mysterious stories a really good story! On the island there are different people, with different traits, which behave in their own manner. This is the developers very well. Unfortunately, you realize during the game, that precisely these dynamics, caused by the interpersonal relationships as different people is more and more into the background.
Everyday sounds on the island of a bell and the third beat all fall into a deep sleep, which is crisscrossed by nightmares. These dream sequences are also an outstanding success. Sometimes scary, sometimes surreal and sometimes absurd dreams lead the sleeper to their limits.
I would not give more details at this point about the history ...
And now the gameplay. The difficulty of the puzzle is very different. Some of it is really very simple and obvious at first glance. Other puzzles are wiederrum exterm demanding. The problem here is that the whole leaves no balanced impression. It's not that the game time is getting harder, but it's all very mixed. This affects the motivation, because the sense of achievement a whole do not always give the feeling that you have just overcome nor a hurdle to get to the solution. The puzzles are always logically and with a little effort and to create ever. It is noticeable, however, that the dream sequences are really very succeeded the puzzles on the island but are simply deadly dull. On the island, some things are repeated even permanently.
Unfortunately, there is in the game again and again small minigames, where you have to solve certain tasks. This is mostly just to responsiveness and quick reflexes. What the developers have thought this is a mystery to me. Most of these mini-games are so unfair that you can really despair.
In effect, therefore, remains an ambiguous impression. You can feel in many places the potential of the game and some places are absolutely gorgeous. Then come back passages in the game, where you unmotivated (and often, unfortunately, annoyed) would come on. I often had the feeling that the developers have invested a lot of work and money in the new engine, which enables even not so many resources were left for the game. Really mature the engine is not well, because you often have problems with the performance. At many points the game is, unfortunately, only a test of patience!
Too bad ...
