The Sigma is like all EX lenses, a very well-made lens with Metallbajonnett and excellent option for self zoom ring. It also has a zoom lock that prevents accidental using the zoom during transport.
Positives:
- Lens hood and lens pouch included
- In view of the light intensity amazingly compact
- 2.8 aperture over the whole zoom range
- Good to excellent resolution
- Verzeichung clearly at 18mm, otherwise very good
- Randabdunklung visible but kept within limits
Negatives:
- No HSM drive, characterized AF Geschwindukeit aussreichend, unfortunately loud
- Zoom ring turns with at AF because such do not describe HSM drive
Conclusion:
Very good lens for this price range.
WARNING: Lens is only suited to sensor size APS-C!
Unfortunately, there is a HSM drive only for Nikon adapter, this is the biggest weakness and also out of date.
If you appreciate the quick ultrasonic drive should wait, maybe Sigma brings the HSM drive for Canon adapter.
However, no image stabilization, this is at the focal length and light intensity not mandatory.
