If you need more disk space, you should buy the WYKH instead of WYK: This has besides the mSATA connector also a SATA connector, it makes sense then to an mSATA SSD for the operating system and program to install, and a SATA HD for data (eg Movies, if it is to be operated as HTPC).
The operating system installation (Windows 7 Professional) took place via a USB stick. Microsoft provides both an ISO download, as well as a tool to to make the USB flash drive bootable. It is then only the key of the purchased version is required.
The NUC has not innately a WLAN module, one needs this, it must be purchased separately and installed (ditto with Bluetooth).
For more frequently mentioned fan volume: Yes, you can hear him. But compared to a standard PC or even to a normal laptop it is very quiet. However, it is in the small box around a small fan and the sound is quite high according to what one may find unpleasant, even at lower volumes. Nevertheless: There is no comparison with normal PCs. Is it still too loud, can the speed runterregeln via BIOS, which should be sufficient if there is no long-term stress.
Nevertheless, 1 point deduction for 2 annoyances:
1. You have to additionally purchase a power cord. It is not supplied. The (external) power supply is, but not the connection from the power supply to the socket. The required cable is what a notebook this is typically (I just do not know how to say it correctly). I knew then that the cable is missing, I had to order a cable with IEC connector, but that does not fit. (Instead, a laptop cable is only just used).
2. When the carton opening sounds against one of Intel sound. This is completely unnecessary electronic waste as part of the package and should not be.
Addition:
The cable required is an IEC 320-C5 or "cloverleaf" - or "Mickey Mouse" cable. There seems to be a version to give, in which the cable is (see comments). Possibly WYK2 or WYKH2 (confirmation pending)
