I read comments on comparisons with the novel "The primitive conspiracy" by the same author. What a strange idea !! "Less good, better, not up, disappointing" ... STOP! Nothing compares. After finishing his adolescent crisis with much less interesting series (except for pre-pubescent children), Another World, the author finally woke up and got out of his dreamlike reverie. Back to business with this very good novel, The patience of the Devil. Even if writing is improved, and less sharp in its infancy, history holds up. And the highlight is that you never really know where is the boundary between the rational and the irrational. Between pure fantasy novel and thriller. I think the author believes in the Devil as he must believe in God and the incarnation that makes the dark side of man who lives on a daily basis is not reminiscent of the opening scene LUMBER CHEF of American film, The Exorcist W. Friedkin released in 1973 and terrorized an entire generation. Scene is happening in the Middle East and where the director briefly shows human disabilities (blind, blind, handicapped, cripple ass etc ...). Evil is not a being red at the feet of goat and ram horns, it is in all of us; the dark side of the most abstruse of our consciences. And this is true. Human perversion, hatred and violence emerging from time to time; we watch the news every day on television. In short, a very good read, hoping that Chattam not stray into the paths of easy success.
