My girlfriend and I have finished it yesterday and were in the end, unfortunately, only semi-excited.
Donkey Kong: Country Returns is a classic old-school platforming for old as well as new players. It was not hard to understand the control and it was nice to see that many of the old gameplay elements have come back - such as the collectible "KONG" letters or the firing barrels. Thus, bursting the game only as of nostalgic feelings, and the levels are designed incredibly loving. Unfortunately, all this was overshadowed by the following negative aspects.
Point 1, and the biggest problem is the control. Even if one has internalized rapidly, which key has what effect, the taxes did not feel liquid and well received (I played the Wii version). The game had not easy, because before that I played "Rayman Origins" (highly recommended!) And whose control sits really perfect. Donkey Kong on the other hand was really tricky, and often I felt the game "cheated" if I do not got a platform, although I jumped far genung my opinion. That may be my fault and lack of skill, but in Rayman or Mario, there was not such situations.
This also leads straight to 2nd point, namely the vague beginnings of obstacles and level limits. Often I lost a life, even though I have not touched an obstacle nocht, or I survived an opponent who has already touched me. The worst was that at the levels with the flying barrels, if you have to just control on a wall, to collect a collector's item, and dies, although they have not really touched.
The 3rd point is the aforementioned level with the flying barrels, which are control technology of absolute horror. In these levels, of which there are far too many, the player controls a flying barrel by pressing a single button, making the barrel rises. This control makes these levels extremely annoying and terribly frustrating. Each time a level in the title "Flying" had, I instantly lost the desire to play.
And the rails level were not much better.
I would still recommend the game but because it's a good, quite crisp, varied and lovingly designed platforming. However, it is not the best in its genre, but it does not have too!
